The National Treasury has proposed a Ksh.3.6 trillion for the Financial Year 2023/2024 with a Ksh.700 billion deficit to be financed through borrowing.
In the next fiscal year starting July 1, 2023, the first-of-a-kind budget under the Kenya Kwanza administration will mark an increase of Ksh.251 billion from the FY 2022/23 budget which stood at Ksh.3.39 trillion.
Treasury Cabinet Secretary Njuguna Ndungu expects to fund the budget through various tax proposals in Finance Bill, 2023 which have been termed punitive by the opposition wing led by Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga.
