Kenya Airways (KQ) has resumed daily flights to Dubai following the ease of travel restrictions that had been issued by the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) on flights from Kenya and other African nations.
This is after Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Rachel Omamo assured the country of holding talks between her ministry, the ministry of health and the officials from UAE.
In a statement Friday, the Airline said that the expected flights are scheduled to kick off on Monday, January 31, 2022.
The travelers who were planning to fly between Dubai and Nairobi will be free to re-book their flights with all penalties waived.
The national carrier has advised either of the two countries to present a valid negative COVID-19 test based on a molecular diagnostic test, issued within 48 hours of sample collection, from an approved health service provider, using a QR code system.
KQ added that passengers will undergo a PCR test upon arrival in Dubai and self-quarantine until a negative test is released.
The ban of all passenger flights to and from Dubai was issued on January 10 but expired on January 24 due to alleged fake COVID-19 certificates from Kenyans.
DCAA claimed that several passengers arriving from Nairobi tested positive for the virus, yet they had certificates issued in Kenya showing they were negative.
However, the suspension of operations by the two airlines did not affect cargo flights.
