Kenya Airways (KQ) under its Chief Executive Allan Kilavuka received approval from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to provide maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for European-registered aircraft.
What the EASA Certification Means for KQ
The EASA Part-145 Certification allows KQ to perform both heavy and light maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on certified components for European aircraft. This achievement places KQ among a select group of regional airlines with internationally recognized MRO capabilities.
“With this certification, the airline is now authorized to carry out maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on European-registered aircraft, as well as other jurisdictions that recognize EASA standards,” KQ said in a statement.
The certification also guarantees that parts maintained by Kenya Airways meet global aviation standards and can be installed on aircraft operating worldwide, boosting the airline’s reputation as a trusted MRO service provider.
With this KQ now positions itself in the aviation sector and opens up new business opportunities in aircraft maintenance, potentially driving revenue growth for the airline.
