The Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) has been feted the best airport by size and region in the 5 – 15 million passengers per year in Africa category 2020.
JKIA received the nod from the Airports Council International (ACI) – an organization considered by aviation peers voice of world airports, scooping top spot for seamless and world-class customer service.
Moi International Airport also won the 2020 Best Airport by Size and Region under 2 million passengers per year in Africa in ACI’s Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Survey.
ASQ is the world’s leading airport customer experience measurement and benchmarking program. The survey captures passengers’ experience at all airport passenger contact points at more than 300 airports worldwide.
“I congratulate Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) on the success in the Airport Service Quality Awards which represent the highest possible accolade for airport operators around the world on customer experience. During this most difficult and challenging of years, customers have spoken and recognized the successful efforts of the team at KAA in providing a superior customer experience under trying circumstances,” said Felipe de Oliveira, ACI World Director General in his congratulatory message tp KAA for its efforts in improving customer experience.
The recognition was times, said KAA’s Acting Managing Director, Alex Gitari because it was when JKIA and MIA were undergoing major rehabilitation works set to further improve on customer experience.
“Winning these awards is a reaffirmation of our commitment to providing our customers with a stress-free travel experience. We are truly excited and encouraged by these prestigious awards which herald a new horizon in our customer satisfaction journey across our airports.” Said Gitari.
Domestic and international travel resumed in August last year after a sudden halt in March following the confirmation of the first case of the novel coronavirus in the country.
Since the resumption of the aviation sector, the Ministry of Health provided a set of guidelines to contain the spread of the virus which has significantly reduced to its lowest.
The ACI Awards for JKIA and MIA follows the recent recognition of the two airports under ACI World’s Voice of Customer Initiative.
