IG Police nominee Japheth Koome net worth at Ksh.89 million

The Inspector General of Police nominee Japhet Koome Nchebere priced his net worth at Ksh.89 million on Tuesday during the vetting exercise.

Koome appeared before the joint Committee of the National Assembly on Administration and Internal Security and the Senate Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations as he seeks to replace immediate former IG Hillary Mutyambai.

Koome, a Civil Engineer, was nominated by President William Ruto in September 27.

He is former Nairobi County Police Commander, is the current Commandant of the National Police Service College, Kiganjo.

Koome is a career police officer who has risen the ranks to reach Senior Assistant Inspector General of police.

He served as Officer Commanding Police Officer at Central police in Nairobi and regional commander for Nairobi.

Koome was later moved to police headquarters to serve as principal deputy of deputy inspector general of police Edward Mbugua.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Noor Gabow has been the acting IG after Mutyambai picked him to perform his duties.

Mutyambai collapsed in his Karen home on Thursday night, August 25 and he was immediately taken to a high-end private hospital for treatment.
