Botswana sets date for e-passports application for Kenyans

Kenyans living in Botswana have less than a month to comply with the new bio-metric e-passport, the Kenyan High Commission in Botswana announced.

Botswana shall only accept the e-passports recognised under the East African Community, with the application exercise scheduled for December 2 – 5, 2022 at the Chancery.

“Kenyans requiring such services are required to fill out on line passports applications and make necessary payments on the e-citizen platforms, print out the receipts and have three recent photo sized passports,” said Ambassador Dorothy Nthiwa.

In a notice dated November 4, 2022, Ambassador Nthiwa said the current passports shall cease to be functional on November 30, 2022.

Kenya commenced issuing the new East African format e-Passport in September 2017 in line with the digitization of services.

The new EAC travel document comes in red, green, and sky blue – the colours of the EAC flag but with text and national emblems, in gold to complete its face.
