Botswana-based retailer, Choppies is set to exit the local market by February next year.
The supermarket has indicated in its latest financial statement that it intends to dispose of its stores to local operators by February 2020 as it downscales its operations in Kenya.
Choppies is also exiting Tanzania where it is in talks with Carrefour to sell its Tanzanian business following the discontinuation of its operations in that country.
The firm closed its only store in Mozambique in September this year.
Choppies has been operating in eight African countries namely Botswana, South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, Tanzania and Kenya.
