Court Suspends Decision to Deploy KDF Over Ant-Tax Protests

The High Court in Nairobi has suspended the deployment of the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) to quell violence in various parts of the country.

The National Assembly had on Wednesday morning okayed the deployment of the military in to help police calm the outrageous situation following the anti-tax protests Tuesday.

Before the greenlight by MPs, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwa had tabled a motion seeking to legally ratify the government’s decision to deploy KDF officers to tackle protesters.

The decision by legislatures to deploy the military was made in under 30 minutes.
