“Kisumu Dala, here we come!Come let’s make this journey more exciting together. Kenya Railways will take you from Nairobi City to Dala this festive season. Are you ready? ” the statement read in part.
Kenyans have been urged to purchase tickets and reserve bookings using the reservation calls 0115169759 /0115102558 or making physical reservations at Nairobi Central Station.
The move targets Kenyans who will be traveling upcountry, a strategic plan for the corporation to tap more revenue amidst increased demand for train service ahead of the festive season.
It will also serve as a relief to stranded Kenyans over the fully-book bus tickets to avoid exorbitant fairs during festivities.
The company has spent billions of shillings on refurbishing its century-old rail network to boost bulk cargo transportation and passenger travel.
KRC Managing Director Philip Mainga in October had announced that operations along the Kisumu route would begin in December.
“All is set and we must have a passenger train on the refurbished line Kisumu this December. It will operate days and night,” Mainga said.
