Uganda’s COVID-19 deaths pass the 1,000 mark

The number of coronavirus-related deaths in Uganda has passed the 1,000 mark after 34 more patients succumbed to the disease pushing the country’s cumulative fatalities to 1,023.

This as 543 more people contracted the virus from a sample size of 6,059 tests.

Uganda’s caseload now stands at 79,977.

Meanwhile, 52,961 patients have fully recovered from the disease in Uganda.

The East African country whose positivity rate in now at 10.7 percent has so far conducted more than 1.3 million tests and administered over 856,000 doses of the covid-19 vaccine.

Due to the surging numbers, Uganda has since revised the timeline for testing for COVID-19.

Those intending to travel to or from the country will be required to have a COVID-19 test taken 72 hours prior as opposed to the 120 hours imposed earlier.
