Uhuru appoints Stephen Masha as Controller of Budget in acting capacity

President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed Deputy Controller of Budget Stephen Masha as Controller of Budget in an interim capacity.

The appointment follows the term expiry of Agens Odhiambo who has been at the helm for eight years

In a gazette notice dated August 27, President Kenyatta said Mr. Masha will serve for the next 90 days, pending the appointment of a substantive office holder.

“In exercise of powers conferred by section 7(1) of the Controller of Budget Act, 2016, I Uhuru Kenyatta, President and Commander in Chief of the Defence Forces, designate Stephen Masha to be the acting Controller of Budget for a period of 90 days with effect August 27, 2019,” reads a gazette notice.

Ms. Odhiambo, who boasts 30 years of experience in financial management, was appointed the first Controller of Budget in August 2011.

Mr. Masha is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).

He holds a master’s degree in Finance from Leicester University and a bachelor’s degree in Education from Kenyatta University.
