UAE's Payit Rolls Out Send Now, Pay Later for Africa on Buoyed Remittances

First Abu Dhabi Bank’s digital platform Payit has launched Send Now Pay Later (SNPL) for African market, against the backdrop of rocketing diaspora remittances.

Payit is a feature that lets eligible customers send money abroad immediately and repay within 30 days.

The UAE is home to a large and growing African diaspora, from Kenyan and Nigerian professionals to Ethiopian and Ghanaian workers, many of whom send money home regularly to support family, cover school fees or respond to emergencies. For this group, timing often matters as much as the amount.

SNPL is designed to close that gap, allowing transfers to go through instantly while giving senders up to a month to settle the cost.

The feature sits inside Payit’s existing remittance journey, so users do not need to learn a new process. They simply gain the option to send first and pay later when cash flow is tight, a familiar rhythm for many households across the continent that already rely on mobile money and buy-now-pay-later tools to manage day-to-day expenses.

Payit said the launch reflects a broader shift toward building financial products around real customer behaviour rather than rigid transaction models. The platform already combines payments, remittances and rewards in one app, and SNPL adds a credit-style flexibility that mirrors trends already reshaping consumer finance in markets like Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa.

For African economies where diaspora inflows often rival or exceed foreign direct investment, tools that make sending money faster and more flexible carry weight beyond individual households. They can ease pressure on families during shocks and, over time, support steadier remittance flows into local economies.

Payit has not indicated whether SNPL will be extended to additional corridors or currencies, but the move signals growing competition among global remittance platforms to serve diaspora communities with more than just transfers.
