South Africa has downgraded its one-month long Level 4 restrictions to level 3 following reduction in the number of fatalities and covid-19.
Infection rates peaked at 26,500 cases a day in early July but are now down to an average of around 12,000 for the last seven days.
With the eased restrictions, schools are set to reopen, curfew will now start from 10 pm to 4 am, and restaurants will also be allowed to serve alcohol while retail outlets will sell alcohol from Monday to Thursday. At the same time, people can travel between provinces for leisure.
However, restrictions imposed on indoor and outdoor gatherings will remain in place.
In Rwanda, the government has extended its 10-day lockdown that was imposed on 17th July for another five days.
Under the restrictions, only those providing essential services are allowed to leave their homes, outdoor sports and recreational activities are banned and public transport is banned except for the transportation of those providing essential services.
