2.5 million AstraZeneca jabs expected in the country by May

The first recipients of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine in Kenya are expected to receive their booster dose during the first week of June 2021.

Cabinet Secretary for Health, Mutahi Kagwe revealed this in a presentation to the Senate Standing Committee on Health, where he said that a shipment of 2.5 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to Kenya should be in the country during the month of May 2021

C.S. Kagwe has told the Committee that his Ministry is in talks with the African Union (AU) with a view to procuring 7 million doses of Pfizer and 10 million doses of Johnson and Johnson vaccines to vaccinate an additional 13.5 million Kenyans.
