The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) Board has named Frank Mwiti as the incoming Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective from May 2, 2024.

Mwiti brings a wealth of experience, having spent over two decades in diverse international roles related to strategy, governance, business development, risk management, corporate finance, mergers & acquisitions, and performance improvement.

His background includes serving as the outgoing Partner and Eastern Africa market leader at Ernst & Young (EY).

Before that, he held the position of Manager in Banking and Capital Markets Advisory at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

Mwiti worked as a Management Consultant in Investment Banking at Deutsche Bank in the UK.

He founded Afrika Kapital in the UK and, as CEO and Managing Director, provided advisory services to Deutsche Bank and Lloyds Banking Group across various financial sectors.

This includes forex, equities, fixed income, commodities, synthetics, and listed derivatives.

Kiprono Kittony, NSE Board Chairman, welcomed the new CEO who now replaces Geoffrey Odundo.

“The Board is delighted to welcome Mr. Mwiti to the NSE. We are extremely confident of Mr. Mwiti’s strategic capabilities and exceptional experience across frontier, emerging, and developed financial markets and will play a critical role in accelerating the next phase of growth of the NSE as well as support the Government’s capital markets agenda,” said Mr. Kittony.

“The Board will accord him the necessary support to implement strategic initiatives that will accelerate the company’s growth and enhance Kenya’s appeal to international investments.”

For a smooth transition from Odundo to Mwiti, the NSE Board has appointed David Wainaina as the Acting Chief Executive Officer, effective March 1, 2024.
