Christopher Wambua will, until further notice, run the show at the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) as the Director General in an acting capacity effective September 18, 2023.
This follows the suspension of Ezra Chiloba in a memo released Monday evening.
“Following a meeting of the Authority’s Board held on 18th September 2023, resulting in the suspension of the Director General, I am pleased to inform all staff of the appointment of Mr. Christopher Wambua as a Director General in Acting Capacity effective today until further notice,” reads the memo in part.
Who is Wambua?
He has 26 years of experience in the communications field.
According to CA’s employees directory, Wambua has been serving as the Director of Corporate Communication, a position he held for eight years since 2015.
Before then, he had served CA as Assistant Director, Multimedia Content and Innovation for one and a half years.
He served as Communications Manager – CA from January 2013 to April 2014.
Wambua has risen through the ranks as a public servant since 1997 when he first served as the Public Relations Officer at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) – a position he held for two years.
In the year 2000, Wambua moved to Tea Board of Kenya as a Public Relations Officer.
He holds a postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication from the University of Nairobi. On top of his educational background, he has a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Relations from the same institution.
