Kenya suspends all inbound, outbound flights at JKIA due to technical hitch

The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has temporarily shut down the runway at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

According to KAA, the shutdown is due to an aborted take-off by a cargo plane.

KAA said the plane developed a technical hitch on Monday morning which is currently being addressed by a team of engineers.

“As a result of the runway closure, all incoming and outgoing flights have been temporarily suspended.

“Our top priority is the safety of all passengers and we are working closely with the relevant authorities to resolve this situation as quickly and safely as possible,” said KAA.

The authority has advised all affected passengers to contact their respective airlines for further information on the status of their flights.

“We regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.”
