Kenya on Tuesday reported 356 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, according to the ministry of health. The new infections were from 4,424 tests with a positivity rate of 8 percent.
Kenya’s total confirmed cases now stand at 163,976.
In a statement, health cabinet secretary Mutahi Kagwe further, reported 21 more COVID-19 related deaths.
The CS said 3 of the deaths occurred in the last 24 hours, 16 on diverse dates within the last one month, while 2 are deaths reported after conducting facility record audits. Kenya’s cumulative fatalities have now shot to 2,928.
At the same time, 129 patients have recovered from the disease, 65 from various health facilities countrywide while 64 are from the Home Based and Isolation Care. Total recoveries now stand at 113,057.
In terms of hospital admissions, 1,105 patients are in different health facilities across the country while 4,749 patients are on Homebased Isolation and Care. 128 patients are fighting for their lives in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Another 91 are separately on supplementary oxygen with 85 of them in general wards and 6 in High Dependency Units (HDU).
So far 921,546 people have received the COVID-19 vaccine countrywide.
