The National Housing Corporation (NHC) is looking to hire 59 Kenyans across various departments.
Interested applicants have been urged to submit their applications starting July 2, 2024.
“The Corporation seeks to recruit results-driven and highly motivated individuals,” reads the job advert notice.
The National Treasury allocated Ksh.92.1 billion in the current fiscal year 2024/25 for the Housing, Urban Development and Public Works.
This includes Ksh.8.3 billion under the Kenya Urban Programme and Ksh.3 billion to Kenya Mortgage Refinance Company for enhancement of the company’s capital as well as for on lending to primary mortgage lenders.
Treasury CS Njuguna Ndung’u allocated Ksh.32.5 billion for the construction of Affordable Housing units, Ksh.15 billion for the construction of Social Housing units and Ksh.14.7 billion for social and physical infrastructure.
“Mr Speaker, other proposed allocations to the Housing, Urban Development and Public works sector include: Ksh.11.3 billion for the Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement Project-Phase II; Ksh.1 billion for construction of markets; Ksh.1 billion for the National Slum Upgrading Programme,” said CS Ndungu.

Available Positions
There are two available positions for a General Manager in Research, Product Development & Capacity Building are available.
NHC is also looking to hire a Project Manager, a Marketing Manager, three Research and Innovation Managers, and an Assistant Manager in Interior.
Other vacant positions are Principal Construction Officer, Principal Engineer (Civil/Structural), Principal Quantity Surveyor, and Principal Interior Designer.
Posts Based on Contract
Grade 2 positions will be contractual for five years, renewable based on performance.
Grade 3 roles also offer five-year contracts, renewable upon satisfactory performance, while positions from Grades 4 to 12 are permanent and pensionable.
What does NHC Do?
The primary mandate of NHC is to play a principal role in the implementation of the Government’s Housing Policies and Programmes.
The corporation has its origin since 1953 when the Colonial Government of Kenya created a Central Housing Board through the Housing Ordinance.
Other Key Allocations
Other key allocations included Ksh.5.5 billion for the Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement Project-Phase II; Ksh.5.2 billion for construction of markets; Ksh.932 million for maintenance of government Pool Houses; Ksh.1.1 billion for the construction of housing units for the National Police and Kenya Prison; Ksh.637 million for the Kenya Municipal Programme; Ksh.150 million for construction of foot bridges and Ksh.300 million for the Development of Appropriate Building Technology.
