The Kenyan government has set aside Ksh.750 million to construct 10 constituency academies construction in the country.
Appearing before the Committee on Sports, Culture and Tourism Meeting, Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed said that the construction of these academies will begin this November.
The construction of these academies is expected to last by June 2022.
The government expects to begin the work in Narok County where it will put up an academy Ololulunga area, along the Great Rift Valley, that will nurture and develop talents among the pastoralists’ community.
Narok County Government Sports Department Felix Kisalu said the academy is expected to host ultra-modern soccer and athletic pitch, where young talented athletics, will nurture their potential.
It will also have a changing room, an office complex, training halls, an indoor games arena, a gymnasium, entertainment blocks, and a sanitary block.
“Following the completion of the project, the young people who have in the past been idling and vulnerable to rogue politicians will have a chance to exercise their talents. This will subsequently promote peace and cohesion in this area,” said Kisalu.
