Governor Waiguru applauds her MCAs for throwing out Punguza Mizigo Bill

Kirinyaga County Governor Anne Waiguru hailed her Members of County Assembly (MCAs) for throwing out the Punguza Mizigo Bill.

According to the Governor, the bill is just good for the title but what it exudes is detrimental to the people of Kenya.

“I want to thank the County Assembly of Kirinyaga for throwing out the Punguza Mizigo initiative motion. This initiative has a very nice title but it is extremely detrimental to our people,” said Waiguru in a press address.

“We have had discussions with the Assembly and many people enlightening them on the importance of ensuring that it does not pass and waiting for the BBI which we think will be taking cognizance of the things we are very concerned about.”

The Bill was tabled on Tuesday before the County Assembly by Majority Leader Kamau Murango who immediately moved a procedural motion to exempt the bill from long and tiresome debate procedures.

It dangled when Murindiko MCA Evans Ndege was called upon to second the bill but failed to do so.

According to Housing standing orders, should a bill fail to have a seconder, it stands no position but suspended, and shall be brought back to the chambers after a period not exceeding six months.

The Punguza Mizigo Bill is being championed by Third Way Alliance Party leader Ekuro Aukot, former Presidential candidate.
