Government announces massive recruitment at Kenya Prisons; check details

The Kenya Prisons Service (KPS) has announced a nationwide recruitment exercise for the Kenyan youth in the areas of Medical cadet officers, Medical Technicians, and General Cadets.

The recruitment drive will begin on February 8 at 8:00 am in all the 340 designated recruitment centres across the country.

KPS has specified age of applicants which must not exceed 32 and not less than 18 who shall be recruited in 33 categories including medical officers, general surgeons, pathologists, psychiatrists, radiologists, pharmacists and public health officers among others.

For medical technicians including clinical officers, occupational therapists, mortuary attendants, public health officers, ICT officers as well as dental radiographers.

Application Details

All applicants must be physically and medically fit. They should also be at least 5 feet and 4 inches tall for men and 5 feet and 2 inches tall for women.

Those interested in the medical practitioners category must have a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade of C+, a relevant undergraduate degree and should be registered in statutory bodies.

For General cadets, applicants are required to have a minimum KCSE mean grade of C+ and a relevant undergraduate degree from a recognised institution of higher learning.

Applicants in the medical technicians category should have a minimum KCSE mean grade of C (plain) and a relevant Diploma or certificate from a recognised institution.

Interested candidates are expected to carry their original IDs, birth certificates, KRA PIN certificates, academic certificates and other testimonials with them to the recruitment centres on the designated recruitment dates.

After the exercise, selected candidates will undergo an intensive government-sponsored para-military initial training course lasting 9 months at most for technicians and 13 months for general cadet officers.
