Free lunch for all primary public schools if you elect me governor, says Sakaja

Nairobi gubernatorial spirant Johnson Sakaja has promised free lunch for all public primary schools if elected.

According to Sakaja, schools in Nairobi are having low student turnout and the program (free lunch) will keep them in the institutions.

He spoke Wednesday during the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nomination certificate award ceremony.

“The first thing we are going to do is bring a school feeding program in Nairobi every child in public primary schools get 650 grams of free lunch every day so that we keep our students in school,” said Sakaja.

“We now have a team together with the senator, the MPs, women rep and MCAs for us to hit the ground running and meet the people of Nairobi. We are having a listening tour to hear what the people of Nairobi really want in their specific areas.”

Some of the leaders who were issued nomination certificates at the ceremony include Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru, Kilifi governor aspirant Aisha Jumwa and Former Water, Nominated MP Cecily Mbarire eyeing for Embu governor’s seat.

Sakaja’s promise comes a day after he named Absa Bank Kenya Ltd Chief Operating Officer James Njoroge Muchiri as his running mate.

Muchiri had contested in the recently concluded UDA primaries for the Nyandarua governor’s seat but lost to businessman Kiarie Badilisha.

According to Sakaja, Njoroge will bring in vast skills and knowledge from the cooperate world which makes him the perfect choice of a running mate.

“He is willingly coming to serve the people and that is what Nairobians need in a servant. We will run the city of Nairobi professionally,” said Sakaja.

They will now face Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance Coalition’s Polycap Igathe who is contesting under the Jubilee ticket.

Igathe will be deputised by former Kibwezi MP Philip Kaloki who is from the Kalonzo Musyoka-led Wiper Democratic Movement party.
