Deloitte East Africa appoints Anne Muraya as CEO

Deloitte East Africa has appointed Anne Muraya as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective June 1, 2022.

Muraya, a certified public accountant with vast experience in Audit and Assurance and now the former member of the Deloitte Africa Audit Executive Committee (Exco) will be the director of business where she will be overseeing Deloitte’s business at the East African level.

In the release dated February 14,  2022, Deloitte pointed out that Anne will be the first female CEO for Deloitte East Africa and will be in charge of the business in all East African countries.

She succeeds Joe Eshun, the outgoing CEO for Deloitte in East Africa covering Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania who will now start his new role as the Managing Director of businesses where he will be overseeing Deloitte on an Africa-wide level in South Africa.

“We have spent the last four years setting foundations for the growth of our business by focusing on client service excellence, shaping the right culture aligned with our Deloitte Shared Values and ensuring operational efficiency. I am excited to hand over the torch to Anne Muraya and we are confident that she will be a force in driving Deloitte forward in an exciting, but also challenging post-pandemic environment,” said Eshun.

The elect CEO started her career as an Auditor in Deloitte in 1994 after completing her Bachelor’s degree at Kenyatta University.

The company also made more changes as it saw Ruwayda Redfearn appointed as the Deloitte Africa CEO and Delia Ndlovu who was previously the Deloitte Africa Board Chair positioned to senior female executive leading Deloitte’s Africa Business.
