Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) appointed Mercy Wanjau as its acting Director General to replace Francis Wangusi whose term has ended.
In a statement on Thursday, CA said Wanjau will be responsible for coordinating all the organization’s activities.
Before her appointment, Wanjau has been the Director of Legal services at the Authority and has also been serving as the Board Secretary.
She is a commercial lawyer, a regulatory and governance professional, who has previously consulted with KPMG South Africa, PricewaterhouseCoopers Kenya and served at the UN-International Telecommunications Union.
Mr. Wangusi’s term expires this August after having been at the helm of the organization since 2012. He first took the position in an acting capacity, a position he held for a year before being confirmed.
Wangusi would then go on to serve another term that was renewed by the board in 2015.
The board chairman also took time to congratulate the incoming boss and called on industry players to support her in order to consolidate and sustain the gains realized in the sector.
