The rainfall is expected in a few areas in the country for the next one week, the Kenya Meteorological Department has said.
After the witnessed weeks of dryness, the areas which will experience rainfall include; the Lake Victoria Basin, the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Central and South Rift Valley and the Highlands East of the Rift Valley and the Northeast.
These regions in the category are; Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma and Busia Counties, according to Met department.
However, the Northwest, the Coastal Strip and the Southeastern Lowlands are likely to be generally dry.
“Several areas in the Northwest and a few in the Northeast and South-eastern Lowlands are likely to experience strong south-easterly to easterly winds with speeds exceeding 25 knots (12.9m/s).” said Met department in a statement.
Days are likely to be sunny while nights are expected to have clear skies. Occasional morning rains are expected over a few areas in Turkana County.
In Laikipia, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nairobi Counties will experience sunny mornings with a possibility of occasional light rains occurring over a few places and “ afternoon/evening showers are likely to occur over a few high-ground areas.”
