Three more people have tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) in Kenya.
Cabinet Secretary for Health Mutahi Kagwe confirmed the cases on Wednesday, bringing the total number of infected to seven.
Out of the three, Kagwe said two are a couple from Spain and a Burundian from Dubai.
”As of today, we have an additional 3 cases of coronavirus bringing the current number of cases in Kenya to 7 confirmed cases. All these are imported cases from outside the country. Of the 3 is a couple from Spain & a Burundian from Dubai.” Said Kagwe.
The Burundian was reportedly picked out during routine screening at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and tests were carried out at National Influenza Centre as well as the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) laboratories.
The government is presently tracking down any other persons that may have come into contact with the individual.
He also stated that 18 people who are presumptive for the coronavirus are presently admitted at the Mbagathi isolation centre, 7 of whom have since been screened and tested negative and are being discharged.
Kagwe said the threat of the coronavirus spreading in the country is being presented by Kenyans who have travelled abroad.
