Following receipt of all regulatory approvals, Barclays Life Assurance Kenya limited has officially changed to Absa Life Assurance Kenya limited effective 10 February 2020.
The change is being accompanied by Absa fully rebranding and adopting Absa name across Kenya.
“This is to notify our clients and the general public that Barclays Life Assurance Kenya Limited has formally changed its name to Absa Life Assurance Kenya Limited and a new certificate of change of name has been issued by the registrar of companies. The company will officially commence business as Absa Life Insurance Kenya Limited with effect from 10 February 2020.” Reads the statement.
In a statement, the company said that the move was to see the energy and vibrancy of the new Absa taking to new heights.
Changes for the lender’s insurance sect are parallel with the official renaming of the Barclays Banks of Kenya Limited to Absa Banks Kenya PLC effective 10 February 2020.
The name change marks the start of a new era for the bank that has operated in Kenya for close to 104 years.
The lender’s Managing Director Jeremy Awori said the name change was the culmination of a transition journey, which the bank has been undertaking over the last four years.
“Today we begin a new chapter as Absa Kenya, adopting our new name and exciting brand while retaining our indelible commitment to Kenya and its people. This is a major milestone for our business, said Awori.
Awori has reassured the bank’s clients that there will be no change to their account details, and they will continue to do their banking transactions smoothly.
The newly named insurance firm assured it clients that there will also be no fee changes associated with the name change and that all new cards issued will be under the Absa brand.
