
Russia and Ukraine claimed to have downed each other’s drones, according to separate briefings of the two countries on Thursday.
Russia’s Ministry of Defense said on Thursday that its troops took control of three settlements in Ukraine — Popov Yar in Donetsk region, Kamianske in Zaporizhzhia region, and Degtyarne in Kharkiv region.
The ministry said from 23:30 on Wednesday to 7:00 on Thursday local time, the Russian air defense system shot down 122 Ukrainian drones across various locations.
Also on Thursday, the Ukrainian Air Force said that since 20:30 on Wednesday local time, the Russian army had launched 64 drones into Ukraine, and as of 8:30 on Thursday local time, the Ukrainian army had shot down 36 drones.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine released a battlefield update the same day, saying that 160 battles took place in the frontline area over the past day.
It said that the Ukrainian Air Force, missile forces and artillery struck 12 areas where Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment were concentrated.
