NSE Market Capitalisation Surges by Ksh.177 Billion in January

The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) kicked off 2025 on a strong note, recording a significant rise in market capitalisation from Ksh.1.9 trillion on the last trading day of 2024 to Ksh.2.077 trillion by the end of January 2025.

The performance shows an impressive Ksh.177 billion growth in investor-held stock value within just one month.

As of January 28, 2025, NSE maintained its upward trajectory, showcasing strong market performance:

  • NSE All Share Index (NASI) surged 7.13%, rising from 123.48 in December 2024 to 132.28.
  • NSE 20 Share Index climbed 8.97%, moving from 2010.65 to 2190.92.
  • NSE 25 Share Index gained 4.91%, increasing from 3402.80 to 3569.94.
  • NSE 10 Share Index advanced 5.22%, reaching 1370.37 from 1302.31.
  • Market capitalisation grew 5.58%, rising from KSh 1.97 trillion to KSh 2.077 trillion.

The sustained growth across all indices signals positive investor sentiment, likely driven by improving economic conditions, strong corporate earnings, and increased participation from both foreign and domestic investors.
