President William Ruto has nominated Gerald Nyaoma as the Second Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK).
A seasoned central banker, Nyaoma brings 36 years of experience to the role and currently serves as the Director of the Bank Supervision Department at CBK.
Nyaoma is widely respected for his commitment to maintaining Kenya’s financial stability. Over the years, he has held several key roles at CBK, including Director of Financial Markets Development, Director of Banking Services, and Senior Manager of the National Payment Services Division.
“With a background in critical roles across CBK, Mr. Nyaoma’s nomination aligns with our goals to enhance Kenya’s financial stability and regulatory strength,” said Felix Koskei, Head of Public Service, in the nomination statement.
In addition to his extensive experience, Nyaoma is highly qualified academically.

He holds a Master of Philosophy in Economics from the University of Cambridge, where he studied as a Commonwealth Scholar, and graduated with First Class Honours in Economics from the University of Nairobi.
He is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K), a Certified Secretary (CS), and an Associate of the Kenya Institute of Bankers (AKIB).
Nyaoma’s nomination now moves to Parliament for review and confirmation.
His selection forms part of fresh appointments which President Ruto has made Tuesday following reccommendetion from different pannels.
The President has also nominated individuals for significant roles within the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) Chairperson – Isaac Hassan, the Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ) member – Charles Njagua, and the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) Chairperson – Rehema Dida Jaldesa and Sammy Cheokwony as the member of the Salaries and Renumeration Commission (SRC).
