Kenyan digital insurance platform mTek has joined forces with BuuPass to offer integrated travel insurance coverage.
The deal will provide travelers with protection against various travel-related damages through a seamless and efficient process.
mTek’s travel insurance solutions will now be accessible directly within the BuuPass platform. This integration allows customers to easily select and purchase insurance coverage while booking their tickets, simplifying what can often be a complex and cumbersome process.

Public transportation is the preferred mode of travel for the majority of Kenyans, especially for long-distance, upcountry trips.

According to the Economic Survey 2024 by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), the road transportation sector generated Ksh.2.6 billion in 2023, with passenger traffic contributing Ksh.1.4 billion.
Despite its popularity, road travel comes with significant risks. The survey reported 9,960 road accidents in 2023, resulting in 10,762 serious injuries.
