Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei wants the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to summon Uganda’s Ambassador to Kenya Dr. Hassan Wasswa Galiwango over a Tweet from commander of the land forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Force, Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Muhoozi , a top rank General in Uganda, is the son of sitting Ugandan President, Yoweri Museveni.
According to Cherargei, the sensational tweet threatened the unity of the East African Community (EAC).
“I expect by morning, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to summon the Ugandan ambassador to shed light on Gen. Muhoozi’s social media outbursts & subsequent apology. This is undermining the spirit of unity of EAC,” Cherargei said.
On Monday evening, Muhoozi said that it would take him only two weeks to capture East Africa’s largest capital, Nairobi.
“It wouldn’t take us, my army and me, 2 weeks to capture Nairobi,” Tweeted Mohoozi.
The General wrote a series of controversial tweets that have so far elicited reaction among Kenyans on Twitter.
He said former President Uhuru Kenyatta had an opportunity to seize third term in office but squandered it.
“My only problem with my beloved big brother is that he didn’t stand for a third term. We would have won easily!” he said.
He wondered where he would live if he “captured” Nairobi in two weeks – guessing on Riverside Drive and Westlands.
“I’m happy that members of our district in Kenya, have responded enthusiastically to my tweet. It’s still 2 weeks to Nairobi! After our army captures Nairobi, where should I live? Westlands? Riverside?” he posed in another tweet.
Muhoozi was promoted to highest ranking military position by his father in June 2021, six months after he recived another military rank.
The 49-year-old General has been touted the next leader of the East African Nation of close to 46 million people.
Museveni was among tens of African Presidents who attended President William Ruto’s inaugural ceremony at Moi Sports Complex, Kasarani – Nairobi on September 13.
