Brace yourselves for heavy rains, warns Met department

Most parts of the country are expected to experience heavy rains for the next one week, the Kenya Meteorological Department has warned.

In an update Monday, the weatherman said the week-long rain in some regions will hit 120ml levels.

These regions include rift valley, Nairobi and Central Kenya.

Other areas which will see rains of between 70 to 100 ml are; Kakamega, Busia, Laikipia, Kajiado and some areas in the coastal region

The heavy rains coupled with lightning have left two dead in Bungoma County.

The duo Francisca Wabomba, 21, and Valary Naliaka, 13, were struck by lightning while heading home from a posho mill.

“In this season, we have excess rains which are accompanied by lightning. I urge parents to monitor the situation before allowing their children to walk out while it is raining,” said area Assistant chief Bramwel Kachelo.
