Netflix is considering charging fee for its subscribers who share accounts with other users.
The company has been facing stiff competition from Disney+ as costs of producing Converted raising.
Subscribers in Chile, Peru and Costa Rica will be awarded the option of adding two people in their sub-accounts at a fee of Ksh.228.70 to Ksh.343.05.
“We recognize that people have many entertainment choices, so we want to ensure any new features are flexible and useful for members, whose subscriptions fund all our great tv and films,” said Chengyi long.
People sharing accounts will be allowed to transfer the profile and history to new sub-accounts,as the company moves to see if the plan would work in the three countries.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the company ended last year with 221.8 million subscribers below target after immense profit during the lockdowns imposed in the world.
The recent Netflix earnings report shows that the company should add 2.5 million subscribers as 8.3 million subscribers added as per the end of last year were from outside North America.
Recently the firm announced substitution prices in the united states with the basic costing Ksh.1,142.36 ($9.99) and the highest Ksh.2,285.86 ($19.99).
