British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie have announced the birth of a baby girl.
Johnson’s office says a healthy baby, the couple’s second child together, was born in a London hospital early Thursday.
In a statement, a spokeswoman for the couple said.“Both mother and daughter are doing very well. The couple would like to thank the brilliant National Health Service (NHS) maternity team for all their care and support.”
The couple confirmed they were expecting their second child together in July – months after they secretly wed in May at a private ceremony at Westminster Cathedral.
Mr Johnson became the first prime minister to marry in office since Lord Liverpool married Mary Chester in 1822.
Their first child, a boy named Wilfred, was born in April last year.
Johnson has at least five other children from previous relationships.
