USIU-Africa announces vacancy for new Vice Chancellor

United States International University-Africa (USIU-Africa) is now looking for a new Vice Chancellor to take over from interim VC Professor Freida Brown.

The next VC will be expected to bring a track record of successful leadership and academic achievement, as demonstrated in a doctoral degree and ideally at full professorial level.

“The successful candidate will set out a vision for USIU-Africa’s next chapter and work collaboratively with the Management Board to deliver the current Strategic Plan 2021/2026 with energy, sound judgment, and integrity, thinking creatively about opportunities for growth and income diversification,” said Prof. Brown.

The university says the search will be conducted through a United Kingdom-based recruitment firm Oxford HR.

USIU-Africa in August this year recalled Prof. Brown at an acting capacity level for a nine-month period before the campus gets a substantive VC.

Pro. Brown had served at the campus for years as VC. Prof. Paul Tiyambe Zeleza had taken over from Prof. Brown but exited the institution unceremoniously amid conflict with lecturers over salary cuts and a union over plans to lay off non-teaching staff.

The University Council Chairman Kris Ole Senanu said the search for a new vice-chancellor will be a highly intensive process expected to last between 6 to 9 months.

Interested applicants can reach out for job requirements at usiu-a@oxfordhr.co.uk. and the deadline for applications is Friday, November 26, 2021.
