Kenya extends curfew for further 30 days

The Kenyan government has extended the nationwide curfew for one more month.

In his address on Monday, while launching the COVID-19 information hub at the Media Council of Kenya, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the move is aimed at further curbing the spread of the disease.

Also present during the launch was ICT CS Joe Mucheru who emphasised the role of media in highlighting gaps in the state of public health preparedness.

The COVID-19 information hub is expected to enhance vaccine awareness and uptake by the general public in Kenya.

The portal is also set to help media to disseminate factual and verifiable information to the public and curb the rise of disinformation.

On the other hand the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) regional director, prof. Hubert Gijzen lauded the efforts by the government in promoting access to information.
