Kenya’s fight against coronavirus has received a major boost after receiving 182,400 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine from France.
The vaccines were donated by the government of France to the COVAX facility and transported by UNICEF.
The jabs arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Thursday morning on KLM cargo flight.
This comes at a time when Kenya is ramping up its second dose administration, with nearly half a million people having received their second shot.
Two weeks ago, Kenya received another consignment of 358,000 AstraZeneca COVID-19 jabs from Denmark.
Kenya’s caseload stands at 186,959, after the ministry of health reported 506 new cases on Wednesday.
Eight more deaths were also reported pushing cumulative fatalities to 3,705.
