NMS to conduct third test run of green park bus terminal this Friday

The Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) has postponed a test run it had planned at the green park bus terminal on June 15.

The test, which was to be the third to be conducted in a space of one month, was geared towards assessing the park’s readiness for commissioning.

In a statement, NMS Director General Mohamed Badi said the postponement of the exercise to June 18, 2021, was to allow enough time for the public and stakeholders to prepare and participate.

“The extension has been made to ensure this information reaches all commuters and PSV operators,”” said General Badi.

The test run will be conducted the whole day, starting at 9 am in the morning to 9 pm.

It will involve dropping and picking of passengers for Public Service Vehicles (PSV) using Langata Road, Ngong Road, and Argwins Kodhek Road to Kikuyu, Ngong’,  Kawangware, Dagoreti, Kibera, High Rise, Ngumo, Rongai, Kierian, Langata, Otiende, Madaraka and Nairobi West.

Machakos and Kitengela bound PSVs operating from the Nairobi Railway Station Bus terminus will use Lusaka Road from Nyayo Stadium roundabout to Hakati Bus Terminus where Langata and Nairobi West/ Madaraka vehicles operate from.

In April, NMS had carried out the first test run to assess the possibility of implementing the gradual removal of PSVs from the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) to the new terminal.

The bus park is intended to be the new terminal for psvs that have been operating around the nairobi central railway station.

However, after completion of the intended test run, NMS said “PSV pick up and drop off will continue from the normal places until further notice.”

Bus terminus are being developed by the NMS as part of decongesting Nairobi’s CBD and improving commuter experience in the city.

The development process is in the transition phase of commissioning the terminus where all stakeholders are assessing their level of prepairdnes for commissioning the facilities.
