13 killed in an accident at Awasi along Kisumu-Kericho highway

13 people were confirmed dead in a grisly road accident at Awasi along Kisumu-Kericho highway at 1:30 am on Friday

The accident involved an Eldoret Express bus which was coming from Kisumu headed to Nairobi and a truck which was going to Kisumu in the early morning of Friday

According to the Kenya Red Cross, 35 casualties with multiple injuries were evacuated to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, Awasi Mission Hospital and Hope Medical Hospital.

Nyanza Regional police boss Vincent Makokha who visited the scene confirmed the incident, saying the injured passengers had been taken to hospital.
