President Kenyatta meets DP Ruto at State House for a Cabinet meeting after 15 months
President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto met on Thursday at State House Nairobi during a Cabinet meeting.
“His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta is today, at State House, Nairobi, chairing a full Cabinet Meeting during which several matters of national and international importance will be discussed,” State House wrote on its Twitter page.
This is the first Cabinet meeting the President has convened after almost a two-year hiatus.
The executive setting requires a Cabinet sitting every Thursday where the government’s agenda and issues over the collective responsibility of the formulated government policy are agreed upon and adopted.
The last Cabinet meeting was held on February 18, 2021
On May 1, President Kenyatta castigated his deputy for complaining istead of helping him deliver government projects and even challenged his to resign.
“Why didn’t you then resign and leave me to search for a person who could help me?
“Badala ya kuja kunisaidia wewe uko kwa soko na matusi, na wewe unajiita kiongozi. Ati wewe ndio namba ngapi katika Nchi ya Kenya. Namshukuru yule mzee ata kama alikua na mambo yake alikuja kunisaidia,” Kenyatta said.
DP Ruto, in a response said “Sorry, my Boss. I feel your pain. Those you assigned my responsibilities & ‘project’ mzee have let you down miserably. They bangled our BIG4, killed our party & wasted your 2ND term. Wao ni bure kabisa. Boss, I’m available. Just a PHONE call away. Sadly the last cabinet was 2yrs ago,” DP Ruto said.
Bromance between the two hit a dad end in 2018 when the President shook hands with opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Odinga is President Kenyatta’s preferred successor in this year’s general election.
