Badi Muhsin laid to rest in Kariakor
The late veteran Swahili Journalist Badi Muhsin was laid to rest at Kariakor Muslim Cemetery in Nairobi County.
Muhsin’s curtain fell Friday evening while in Mombasa. His body was ferried the very evening to Nairobi for burial ceremony.
According to Muslim burial customs, only men were allowed at his gravesite.
Badi, who had recently made a comeback on Kenyan state television KBC as a Kiswahili news anchor, died at the age of 67.
He was on official duty in Mombasa on Friday when he died, according to the KBC. He is survived by his wife and two children.
But according to his family, however, the news anchor died in his sleep after retiring to his room after lunch.
He was on official duty and had traveled to Mombasa to interview Alice Tabu for his weekend Swahili news feature, Dira ya Magwiji, which he hosts on KBC.
It is true to say that media is a small world but Muhsin’s presence on screen made it bigger with his ever appealing smile.
It is a huge loss to lose such a veteran figure, more so in the media industry – a man who has for decades at the state-owned media, KBC, instilled journalistic character into many.
