Brace for flash floods in Kenya, Met department warns

Flash floods are highly expected in the country along the Kenya-Ethiopia border in the coming days, the Kenya Meteorological Department has warned.

The coming rain will be more than 50mm per day, which will hit the counties of Mandera, Wajir and Marsabit.

“This is as a result of the expected heavy rainfall of more than 50 mm/24 hours over the Ethiopian highlands that may cause outflow to the neighbouring catchments in Mandera, Marsabit, and Wajir Counties,” warned Met department.

The mentioned areas, according to Met Department, have not experienced heavy rainfall in the past days and area residents have been urged to be on the lookout
