Government sets date for form one admissions

The government has already set out a date for Form One admission a day to the end of Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).

Principal Secretary for Early Learning and Basic Education, Dr. Julius Jwan said that all KCPE candidates would be admitted to form one in July 2021 under the 100 percent transition policy.

The P.S was speaking to pupils at Testimony Primary school in Eldoret where he was monitoring the opening of KCPE exams.

The KCPE examinations began on March 22 and will end on Wednesday, March 24 while the KCSE examinations are set to begin on Friday, March 26, and end on Wednesday, April 21.

Education Cabinet Secretary, Professor George Magoha led top government officials to distribute examination papers early on Monday, March 22.

More than 1.1 million candidates are sitting their Kenya Certificate of Primary Examinations, (KCPE) countrywide beginning Monday.

The national exams were postponed after the coronavirus pandemic disrupted the education calendar, starting march last year when the government shut down all learning institutions to stop the spread of the virus.

The criteria used for placement of KCPE 2021 candidates to various secondary schools is based on a student’s performance and the background of the primary school they attended.

Form one selection is categorized into national schools, extra-county schools and county schools.

To check the secondary schools that a candidate has been selected to join in 2021, one is required to send SMS of their index number to 22263 which is charged Ksh25 (Safaricom, Airtel and Telcom).
