COVID-19 cases rise by 179 as 4 more succumb
Kenya has recorded 179 new COVID-19 cases from 4,178 samples tested within the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health has said, taking the tally of infections to 34,884.
Four more patients however succumbed to the virus, taking the tally of fatalities to 589.
Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Dr. Rashid Aman, speaking on Friday during a COVID-19 briefing in Bomet County, said 162 of the 179 are Kenyans while the rest are foreigners. He added that 126 are males and 53 are females.
The cases were distributed across various counties including; Nairobi (66), Garissa (21), Turkana (12), Kisumu (5), Kericho (3), Kisii (2), Kilifi (1), Uasin Gishu (1) among others.
The CAS also revealed that 415 people had recovered from the disease, 161 under the Home-Based Care Programme and another 254 discharged from various facilities, taking the total recoveries to 21,059.
