Safaricom set to retire Platinum service for a new product

Safaricom retires Platinum service for all in one plan

By Daisy Okanga | Safaricom has announced plans to retire the Platinum service by August 30, 2020.

The firm’s move is to include all its customers in an all-in-one product dubbed Kairbu PostPay.

After migration, Safaricom said its customers will be availed with more voice or data, more so, with no expiry resources.

“In October 2019, when we renewed our commitment to being simple, transparent and honest with our customers and services to harmonize customer experience and ensure that our customers were getting the best value,” Safaricom said.

The product was preferred by the business community because it also offered international minutes.

Platinum PrePay customers on auto-renew will be migrated to All-In-One auto-renew plans, while customers who purchase Platinum plans on a one-off basis can select from the All-In-One plans.

The Platinum plan was launched in 2018 as part of a move aimed at targeting and carving a niche of premium customers.
