Why Senate has pushed debate on division of revenue formula to a later date

The Senate has yet again failed to debate the proposed third division of revenue formula.

This is after the chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee on Finance, Kirinyaga County Senator Charles Kibiru failed to table the Committee’s recommendations on the floor of the Senate.

The Speaker of the senate, Ken Lusaka has now adjourned the Senate’s sitting and ruled that a special sitting to debate the proposed formula be held on July 28, 2020.

The decision to adjourn Thursday’s sitting was, however, received backlash from Senators, shouting down the speaker as he gave his ruling.
