By Daisy Okanga | Metropol Credit Reference Bureau (MCRB) has launched a COVID-19 loan restructure product and Identity Theft Service requests to restructure KSh. 680 million worth of loans received.

Staying on efforts to cushion Kenya’s economy against COVID-19, Metropol Credit Reference Bureau has developed and launched into the market a groundbreaking loan restructure product to enable Kenyans to engage safely and remotely with their lenders to negotiate loan restructure terms.

Speaking at the launch of the COVID-19 loan restructure product,  Metropol Corporation Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Sam Omukoko, said that the COVID-19 loan restructure product will allow customers to actively and conveniently engage with their respective financial institutions in order to get the best restructure terms on existing loans.

Omukoko added that the product has so far handled 1,864 requests for the restructure of 680 million shillings worth of loans, with the highest loan restructure request being of a 330 million shillings loan.

To access the COVID-19 loan restructure product, all a customer needs to do is to download the Metropol Crystobol app on Google play store, register and click on the COVID-19 loan restructure icon which will display an individual outstanding loan.

In the same vein,  Metropol Identity Theft Service (MITS), is a premium short messaging service that alerts subscribers every time their identity is used to access credit from lenders.

The product will also enable an affected subscriber the opportunity to raise and address a dispute with the CRB in good time with respect to irregular loan accounts on their credit profile.
