Traders warned against hiking commodity prices amid COVID-19 outbreak

President Uhuru Kenyatta has warned traders against hiking prices of commodities, products and services in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.

Speaking at State House on Wednesday, the head of state warned business entities which will increase prices will have stern action taken against them.

“I’m appealing to all our business fraternity to act like our friends in the Banking sector. ” Said the President

“Act in the interest of our people and country, that way we will all be able to survive and see ourselves through this.”

President Kenyatta asked Kenyans to pull together to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic which has so far seen seven people test positive in the country.

“Let’s minimise the economic impact brought about by this problem. Let us not take undue advantage,” The head of state added.

As of Wednesday, more than 200,000 cases of coronavirus were confirmed, 82, 813 recovered while 8,010 had died of the virus.
